In the center of Khodzhova Square stands the majestic palace of Anton Grassalkovich - the current residence of the President of Slovakia. The palace was built by order of one of the most influential dignitaries of the Holy Roman Empire - an adviser to Empress Maria Theresa Count Grassalkovich. An area outside the city walls called the Dry Duty was chosen for the construction of the palace. The Baroque Palace, built in 1760 in the Baroque style, soon became the venue for the most magnificent balls in Bratislava.
