One of the largest squares in Sweden is located in Karlstad (that's what it is called - Big). It arose in the 18th century after a fire in which almost the entire city burned down. Now it is a popular recreation area with fountains, flower trees and an unusual monument in the center of the square. The Peace Monument (Fredsmonumentet) is a work by Ivar Johnsson commemorating the peaceful termination of the union between Sweden and Norway in 1905. No offense to the author, but this monument was recognized as the ugliest monument in Sweden according to the results of the audience voting.→
