Selwyn Clark Market
Sir Selwyn-Clarke Market, Victoria Market
Seashelles, Mahe
Market them. Sir Selwyn Selwyn-Clark, (also called the Victoria Market) - Governor of the Seychelles from 1947 to 1951, is a large Chinese-style building in the courtyard of which trade takes place.
To the left of the entrance is a fish row where you can buy freshly caught red snapper, blue marlin or tuna. This is followed by rows with vegetables - cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, onions, local sweet potatoes, hot peppers, pumpkins, jackfruit. Other rows are occupied by fruits: bananas of various varieties, pineapples, papayas, melons and watermelons, avocados, mangoes and coconuts. In the market you can also find various spices and, of course, souvenirs, which can be purchased here much cheaper than in souvenir shops.
