Hira Cave is located at the top of the
Jabal-an-Nur mountain at an altitude of 270 m in the eastern part of Mecca. This is a small cave - its dimensions are about 3.7 m long and about 2 m wide. She was the favorite place of the Prophet Muhammad for solitary contemplation. And, according to legend, it was in it that the archangel Jibril gave the prophet the first divine revelation. Although the cave of Hira is not a mandatory place to visit and pray during the Hajj, many pilgrims still consider it an integral part of their pilgrimage and overcome the path of 600 steps to it to pray here and touch the walls of the cave in the hope of receiving the blessings of Allah. Ghar Hira is considered the birthplace of Islam, so only Muslims are allowed to enter it.
