Siberian Kremlin
russia, Tobolsk
The Tobolsk Kremlin was built at the end of the 17th century to protect the recently erected Sophia-Assumption Cathedral. Tobolsk was at that time the capital of Siberia and enjoyed the special location of Peter I. Currently, the Kremlin consists of architectural complexes: Sophia Court, Voevodsky Court, Pryamsky Vzvoz, Gostiny Dvor, Prison Castle, Red Square and Cathedral Square. The total length of the walls is 620 meters.

Tobolsk is located two hundred kilometers from the Omsk-Tyumen highway, but the first pointer to the first capital of Siberia appeared only 53 kilometers away. The road was broken, the navigator was frankly confused in the readings, and for 100 kilometers there was no connection at all, I had to check the direction with local residents in rare villages. And since the nearest airport is only in Tyumen (250 km), fate itself keeps Tobolsk from an excessive influx of tourists. According to the official city, the city was founded in 1587, five years after Yermak's decisive victory over the troops of Khan Kuchum on the Chuvash Cape, the stone Kremlin was built at the beginning of the 18th century, as wooden buildings regularly suffered from fires.
