The Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy is one of the largest exhibition centers in the world. The exhibition complex was opened in 1939 as the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition. After re-profiling in 1959, the name changed to the "Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy of the USSR", in 1992 to the "All-Russian Exhibition Center". On May 14, 2014, the exhibition was returned to its original name - VDNKh, but without the "USSR" and its radical reconstruction began. All exhibition pavilions were repaired and restored. After the fences between the territories of VDNKh, the Botanical Garden and the Ostankino Park were dismantled, they became a single spatial complex with an area of more than 520 hectares.
On the territory of VDNKh, monuments and buildings of the Soviet era have been preserved, some of which are world famous. These include the Worker and Collective Farm Woman monument, the Stone Flower and Friendship of the Peoples of the USSR fountains, pavilions of the former Ukrainian and Uzbek Soviet republics, and the Cosmos pavilion. Not far from the main entrance of the exhibition are the monument to the Conquerors of Space and the Cosmonauts Alley.
On the territory of the complex there is a cinema "Circular cinema panorama". The
Polytechnic Museum is open at VDNKh for the duration of the renovation, with the exposition "Russia does it herself!", dedicated to the most famous developments of Russian scientists. A model of the Buran spacecraft was brought here from Gorky Park, inside which an Interactive Museum was opened, where you can control the landing of the spacecraft at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in real time. About 100 interesting exhibitions of various subjects are held annually in the pavilions of the exhibition complex.
Also, the Moscow Aquarium, Europe's largest oceanarium, operates at VDNKh.
For outdoor enthusiasts, VDNKh offers bike and rollerblade rentals, bicycle parking, two mini-football and two basketball and volleyball courts with artificial lighting, as well as a rope park.
In winter, the largest skating rink in the world with an area of artificial ice cover of 20,000 sq.m. operates on the territory of the exhibition. The ice complex houses the Alley of Lovers and the alley "Infinity", children's and adult skating rinks, an extreme park and a hockey rink.
