The Losiny Ostrov National Park is a federal state budgetary institution located on the territory of the city of Moscow and the Moscow Region. The park covers an area of about 116 km², of which 96 km² is forest, includes 6 forest parks, of which Yauzsky and Losinoostrovsky are located within Moscow. The park is divided into 3 functional zones: a specially protected zone; area for walking along established routes; recreation area for mass visits, occupying 26% of the park. This natural museum presents a variety of flora and fauna of the near Moscow region, including several hundred species of plants, 170 species of birds, 10 species of fish, hundreds of elks, spotted deer, wild boars and hares.
Near the Jaeger section of the park there is the Moose Biological Station, where you can see moose and calves close by. In a specially protected area in winter, you can watch spotted deer, for which feeding grounds are arranged.
In the Alekseevskaya grove of the park there is a historical and archaeological complex-museum "Ancient Russian hunting", or "Royal hunting". Within the complex, on the banks of the Pekhorka River, there are pre-Mongol burial mounds and the remains of the palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich. The exposition of the museum is located in the building of the former country cottage of the Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR N. Bulganin. The exhibits of the museum acquaint visitors with the history of Russian hunting, with its various types: falconry, canine, animal. Tourists will learn interesting facts about the ceremonial royal hunting trips, weapons, and ancient cartography.
On the territory of Losinoostrovsky, Mytishchinsky and Yauzsky forest parks there are horse trails, which include the most interesting natural complexes of the park.
