The Church of the Sign is a unique monument of Russian baroque of the late 17th - early 17th century. 18th century - is located on the eastern outskirts of the village of Dubrovitsy, 4 km from the center of Podolsk and 36 km from Moscow. The temple was founded in 1690 in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The Sign", which is one of the most revered in Orthodoxy. The icon depicts the Most Holy Theotokos in intercessory prayer, together with the Divine Child, representing Christ in adolescence. The Church of the Sign of the Most Holy Theotokos was consecrated in February 1704, in the presence of Emperor Peter I and Tsarevich Alexei.
The octagonal tower of the church is crowned with a carved gilded metal crown, rests on a high plinth in the form of an equal cross with an open gallery covered with decorative elements carved from white stone in the form of flowers and fruits. The facades are decorated with 12 sculptures of saints and angels. Four stairs lead to doors in the central faces of the base. On the sides of the western staircase leading to the main entrance, white-stone sculptures rise - Gregory the Theologian with a book and a raised hand and John Chrysostom. Above the main entrance, on the roof of the western vestibule, there is a statue of Basil the Great.
The interior of the church is decorated with high reliefs made on biblical scenes, sculptures depicting the resurrection of Christ and the coronation of the Mother of God, two-tiered wooden gilded choirs have been preserved. The Church of the Sign is the architectural dominant of the former estate of Prince B.A. Golitsyn, located at the confluence of the Pakhra and Desna rivers.
