The State Order of Lenin Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia is one of the largest in Russia and one of the most significant opera and ballet theaters in the world.

It is customary to trace the history of the theater from March 1776, when the provincial prosecutor, Prince Pyotr Vasilyevich Urusov, began the construction of the theater. The grand opening took place on December 30, 1780.

The theater includes ballet and opera troupes, the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra and the Brass Band.
