Not far from Kislovodsk, on the top of Dubrovka mountain near the village from the village of Yasnaya Polyana, the snow-white St. George Convent is picturesquely located. The view of both the monastery itself from the federal highway Minvody-Kislovodsk is wonderful - it seems to soar in the sky, and from the monastery to the surroundings - the city and mountains are at a glance, and Mount Beshtau in the morning in a haze of fog generally looks mysterious, in clear weather it is clearly visible double-headed Elbrus. The place is quiet, calm, spiritual, although the temple itself, the chapels and the monastic cloister were built recently, construction work is still ongoing. A monument to George the Victorious was erected in front of the entrance. Although the pedestal has not yet been lined, it still looks majestic against the backdrop of snow-covered Beshtau.

The idea of building a temple on Mount Dubrovka belongs to the residents of Essentuki, cousins Pavel Muzenitov and Konstantin Aslanov.
Volunteers began to build the temple on November 16.1998, on the day of St. George the Victorious. It was built in just a year, and already in 2003 the construction of a convent and a shelter began, three years later the first permanent residents appeared in the monastery - mother Varvara from the Kaluga region, nun Anthony and novice Elena. At first, they had to live in a construction trailer and work for the glory of God in the newly created monastery "by the whole world". On April 11.2006, the Holy Synod officially opened the St. George Convent with the appointment of the nun Varvara as the abbess of the monastery. The Sofia Orphanage was born in December 2009, when the first three children with a difficult fate arrived at the monastery.

The nuns and novices run the household themselves: a large orchard has already been planted in the monastery, small plantations of grapes, raspberries, strawberries and all kinds of vegetables have been planted.
The sisters keep several cows, chickens, a small apiary, providing their abode with dairy products, eggs and honey. There is also an icon-painting workshop in the monastery courtyard.

Now on the territory of the monastery there is a Temple, two chapels - the Arkhangelsk, where the Sacrament of Baptism and the Blessing of Water are performed in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Life-Giving Spring", a bell tower, a Bath in honor of the Baptism of the Lord, an icon shop, a house with personal cells of nuns, a refectory and a shelter "Sofia "for girls from five to fourteen years old who find themselves in a difficult life situation. Children study in the village of Yasnaya Polyana near the monastery, receive a musical education at the Essentuki School of Arts, study at the Colorit art studio, and participate in amateur performances. In addition, pupils from an early age work on obedience and learn to care for animals and plants.
It is especially pleasant that when walking along the upper terrace of the monastery, overlooking the playground, you can hear the bursting laughter of children, the girls there ride on a swing and play merrily. There is also a stationary spyglass for viewing the surroundings, however, there are no instructions for payment on it, but we threw a coin of 10 rubles. and the pipe started working)) For comparison, in Pyatigorsk at the Aeolian harp, a view through the same pipe costs 100 rubles, like this))

Although the St. George Convent is still very young, it has already developed its own prayer traditions: every day the sisters make a religious procession and pray for all those living in the Caucasus. Many shrines are located under the canopy of the monastery, among them: the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “Feodorovskaya”, the miraculous icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “The Tsaritsa”, all the Reverend wives of Diveevsky, particles of the relics of the patron saint of the monastery, St. George the Victorious, as well as a particle of his chiton, St.
Luke of Simferopol, Saints Jonah of Kyiv and Seraphim of Sarov.

In May 2012, artists Andrei Bukhnikashvili and Vyacheslav Simakov finished painting the church of St. George the Victorious in the monastery. The painting is made in the traditional canonical style. White marble for facing the walls of the temple was specially brought from the Urals. Marble columns are also installed inside the temple, the eight-pointed Star of Bethlehem is mounted on the floor, but photography is prohibited there.
We liked the beautiful belfry with an open spiral staircase, but, unfortunately, we did not manage to hear the ringing of bells, but we really wanted to.

The monastery has a swimming pool with separate male and female halls and a Source where you can draw holy water (if you don’t have your own container, plastic bottles are sold there for 10 rubles). The water is delicious, we liked it.
At the entrance to the temple, there are two baskets by the stairs, one with scarves, the other with long skirts, for those numerous pilgrims who did not take them with them on the road. In the church shop you can buy products of the monastery courtyard - honey, cheese, various jams, herbs, fresh pastries.

The place there is really beautiful, clean mountain air, the feeling of spaciousness and freedom is breathtaking! Having been alone with yourself in silence, you find peace of mind, harmony and return to ordinary worldly life, shaking off the burden of everyday worries and problems.
