Lomonosov Bridge, Chernyshev bridge
russia, Saint Petersburg
Lomonosov Bridge, thrown over the river. Fontanka, was built during the reign of Catherine II. During its existence, it had several names and was renamed in honor of M. Lomonosov only in the middle of the 20th century. The length of the structure is 57 m, and its width is about 15 m. The Lomonosov Bridge has retained its former architectural appearance: in its middle there are 4 granite towers in the form of open gazebos, from which massive iron chains stretch, which were once part of the bridge’s opening mechanism.
