The narrow and winding Griboyedov Canal originates from the river. Moika and flows into the river. Fontanka, its length is 5 km, and its width is 32 m. It was laid in the 18th century. along the river Krivushi. The canal was called Ekaterininsky for a long time due to the fact that it was built during the reign of Catherine II. The canal received its modern name in 1923 in honor of the famous Russian writer A. Griboyedov, who lived in one of the houses on its embankment.
Over the years of its existence, this waterway has changed a lot - the banks were strengthened, and along them granite embankments and many mansions, tenement houses and government institutions were built. 21 bridges have been built on the Griboyedov Canal (Kazansky,
Bankovsky,
Lviny, Kolomensky, etc.) and a number of interesting historical buildings, among which stand out

Russian Museum and
Singer House.
