The Bank Bridge is a single-span 25-metre pedestrian bridge spanning the
Griboyedov Canal. It was designed by engineers V. Khristianovich and G. Tretter and opened to the public in 1826. The name of this building comes from the Assignation Bank located opposite. The Bank Bridge is famous for its decorations - statues of winged lions and an openwork fence. Curious is the fact that the wings of griffins are covered with real gold leaf. And there is a legend that if you rub the paw of a lion, then you will be lucky. The Bank Bridge is very popular among citizens and guests of St. Petersburg.
