Karlovskie vineyards

Wineries of Sremski Karlovtsy
Serbia, Sremski Karlovci
Karlovskie vineyards are grown on the slopes of the Fruška Mountain and in the Danube River valley. The history of vineyards goes back far into the past, when here in 276 the Roman Emperor Probus brought the first vine from Sicily. The most common wines are Riesling, Ausbruch and the famous spiced wine Bermet. Wine tasting takes place in numerous wine cellars, as well as at the largest wine festival Grožđenbal, which is held every year in early October, on the day the grape harvest begins.

10 kilometers from Novi Sad is the small town of Sremski Karlovci - one of the centers of attraction for tourists in Serbia. I will not talk much about the town itself and the original architecture, I will immediately move on to the main thing - wine! Fruš ka Gora (Serbian for "fruit mountain") has long been famous for its orchards and vineyards. Despite the significant damage to local winemaking caused by the phylloxera grape aphid in 1885-1895, local wines are quite popular in the country and even abroad.
