Walking through the historic center of Porto, you will certainly see a small square, in the center of which is the Fountain with sculptures of winged lions - the square of Gomes Teixeira, better known as the Lions Square. This fountain was installed in the XIX century. to improve the city's water supply, but it was soon so popular with the locals that it was reflected in the unofficial name of the square. Until 1835, this area was called Karma because of the nearby monastery of the Order of Carmelites.→
