The author of the project of this religious building is the famous Italian architect Niccolò Nasoni. The main façade of the church is richly decorated with typical baroque reliefs and statues of saints, while its interior is oval in shape. Behind the church rises a 76-meter baroque bell tower, also built in the 18th century. She became a real decoration of the city and for a long time served as a guide for sailors to enter the harbor. The Tower of the Clerics has six floors, a narrow spiral staircase with 225 steps and a carillon of 49 bells. On the sixth tier of the tower there is an observation platform with a wonderful panoramic view of Porto and its surroundings.
