Funchal Cathedral is a Catholic church located in Funchal, located in the Sé freguesia. The temple is consecrated in honor of the Assumption of the Virgin and is the cathedral of the diocese of Funchal.
The cathedral is a Gothic-style building with three naves, built in the 15th century. The bell tower with a spire was completed by 1517-1518. In the cathedral there is a silver cross for religious processions, donated by Manuel I. Near the cathedral there is a monument to Pope John Paul II, who visited Madeira in 1991.
