Restauradores Square is named after the heroes of the 1640 war for independence from Spain. One of the main streets of Lisbon,
Avenida da Liberdadej, starts from the square.
In 1886, an obelisk was erected in the center of the square, on which names and dates were engraved, dedicated to the battle of the Portuguese War of Independence. The area is surrounded by buildings of the 19th and 20th centuries: the Executive Eden Aparthotel, with palm trees growing on the facade of the hotel; 18th-19th century Fauge family palace, Rossio Station, which leads to
Rossio Square and Reshtauradores Square.
