The cathedral, built on the site of a mosque, dates back to the 13th century, but since that time it has been rebuilt many times. Standing near the altar, one can admire the sun-lit jasper statue of Our Lady of Conceisanu, which is tentatively dated to the 14th century. The rays of the sun come in from a magnificent double window with stained-glass windows around the edges.
Opposite Se is the 16th century Miseriórdia church. with a renaissance altar.
