Silesian Angel, Angelus Silesius, Johannes Scheffler, Johannes Scheffler
Poland, Wroclaw
A monument to the German Christian mystic and poet Johannes Schefler, better known under the pseudonym Angelus Silesius, was erected in Wroclaw, in the courtyard of the Ossolinski National Library. Johannes' father moved to Breslau (now Wroclaw) from Krakow. Here the writer was born, worked, here his last days passed.

The statue depicts Johannes as an angel. One wing, symbolizing inspiration, comes from the heart. The author of the monument is the Wroclaw sculptor Eva Rossano.

The Silesian Angel is the pseudonym of Wroclaw-born Johannes Scheffler, a Catholic priest, physician, poet and mystic. The author of the sculpture, Ewa Rossano, showed Shefler as a creatively gifted person who always has two wings. One of the wings, polished to a shine, comes from the heart - this is his inspiration. Everything that is born from inspiration is able to penetrate into the hearts of other people. The sculpture is located in the courtyard of the Ossolineum National Library, at the address - Szewska, 37.
