The Zachenta Gallery of Contemporary Art is one of the oldest and most prestigious exhibition centers in Poland. The gallery was founded in 1860 by the "Society of Arts", its members were art lovers and artists. The society's mission was to spread the national idea of Polish art. At the present time, works are exhibited here, both by Polish artists and world-famous masters of painting. The basis of the Zahenta collection is made up of unique works by Kazimir Malevich, Paul Cezanne, Toulouse-Lautrec, Pablo Picasso, Jan Matejko, Jozef Brandt and many others. Along with the permanent exhibition, thematic exhibitions, photo exhibitions, conferences, presentations and master classes by famous artists are regularly held here.
