One of the youngest castles in Europe and my favorite castle - the Imperial Castle, seeing which I immediately fell in love and did not calm down until I went around from all sides. It is located not far from the railway station and it is very convenient to walk to it. The castle is very different and at the same time it is a single complex with a small park. And how many all kinds of decorations inherent in the “correct” castle, which is breathtaking. Even Hitler himself ordered to convert it into his residence, however, he did not have time to live in it. It is officially stated that Hitler never visited the castle, however, according to the stories of a worker who lived there at the time, Hitler did visit Poznań in 1939. The proposed visit was kept secret and lasted only a few hours.
And the construction of the Imperial Castle in Poznan began as a residence for the German Emperor Wilhelm II in 1905 and, five years later, the architect Franz Schwechten, who was responsible for the construction, personally handed over the keys to the emperor during his visit to Poznan on 21.08. 1910. The new residence, built on the initiative of the Prussian authorities, was designed to reflect the control of the Greater German Empire over the Greater Poland region, which was part of Prussia.

Of course, the fate of the castle is not the easiest: they rebuilt, and destroyed, and did not take care, but it remained! It’s good that they didn’t destroy it and now Poznan has its own architectural “pearl”! I recommend you visit and take a closer look!
