A very curious temple, which, suffering from fires and destruction, became more and more beautiful. His story is also interesting. It is one of the oldest parish churches in Legnica. It originated next to the prince's castle in wood, but then was rebuilt in stone. It was used precisely as a chapel for the nobility, but there was also a market nearby. Another interesting point: it was here that they prayed to repel the invasion of the Mongols. It was in this church that Henry the Pious spent the night in prayer before the Battle of Legnica in 1241. The chronicler Jan Dlugosh mentions an unfavorable sign for the prince. When Henry the Pious drove past the church, heading for the battlefield, a stone fell from its roof and almost broke the prince's head. Knowledgeable people interpreted this case as a warning about the danger threatening the Polish army and the commander himself. Henry did not listen to the prophecy, and what could he do?
The work of the prince is like this ...As a result, it was his head that the Mongols strung on a spear and showed to the defenders of the city in order to break their spirit. But prayer helped - Legnica withstood the invasion of the Mongols. Everything in this temple is related to this event - there are stained glass windows that are associated with the battle. There is also a canvas behind the altar, on which the mother of Prince Henryk the Pious of Greater Poland, Saint Jadwiga, is looking for the body of her son.

A few centuries after the Battle of Legnica, the church became the property of the evangelists. It currently hosts Lutheran services. The church is open not only for believers, but also for tourists. You can visit the temple and appreciate its historical significance.
