Temple Synagogue or Progressive Synagogue was built in 1860-1862 by architect Ignatius Herzock. During its existence, the synagogue was rebuilt many times and got its modern look at the end of the XIX century, as a result of work designed by Benjamin Torbe. In 1924, during the restoration work, the side naves were completed, and some additional elements appeared. Now the synagogue combines elements of Moroccan style and classic German synagogues of the XIX century. Prior to World War II, the Temple Synagogue was a shrine to progressive Jews.→
