Poland, Krakow
The Kosciuszko Mound is an artificial hill and a symbolic grave of Poland's national hero Tadeusz Kosciuszko. The mound was built in the first half of the 19th century. on Bronislava Hill on the outskirts of Krakow. The mound, 34 m high, is surrounded by a fortress wall, and a memorial stone with the inscription "Kościuszce" is installed on its top. In the wars of the 20th century, it was used for military purposes; a defensive fortress was also built here. A part of the preserved fort now houses a museum dedicated to the memory of Kosciuszko and the history of the fortress. This architectural complex also houses a café and a gift shop. Convenient paths lead to the top of the mound, where benches are installed and an observation deck is equipped with Krakow and the surrounding area.
