The new building of the Opera House was erected in 2004-2008 by architect Romuald Loegler, who won the competition announced in 2002. The building was built at the expense of the European Union with the support of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The stage was inaugurated on December 13.2008 with the premiere of Krzysztof Pendrecki's opera The Loud Devils, directed by Lako Adamik and directed by Andrzej Straszynski. The building accommodates a large hall with a capacity of 761 seats with a stage area of ​ ​.443 square meters. m, as well as a chamber hall, rehearsal rooms, the latest technical equipment. A sculpture of Winged Eros is installed on the square in front of the Opera House. The author is the famous artist Igor Mitorai.
Currently, the repertoire of the Krakow Opera includes about thirty titles. These are works by Polish composers and world classics, ballet and musical performances for children. During the season, the Krakow stage opens to the audience about two hundred times, supplementing its repertoire with concerts, productions of other theaters, meetings with artists.
