Katyn cross

Poland, Krakow
A five-meter monument in the form of a cross dedicated to the victims of the Katyn tragedy, when more than 20 thousand Polish prisoners of war were shot in the Katyn forest near Smolensk in 1940, as well as to all the victims of the communist regime. The monument was erected in 1990 on the square of Father Adam Sudzinsky, next to the wall of the Church of St. Egidius. The author of the project was the Krakow sculptor Jacek Marek. At the foot of the cross is a granite slab with a list of camps and prisons where Polish prisoners of war were kept.

It was erected in 1990 next to the wall of the Church of St. Egidius in memory of Polish prisoners of war who were illegally exterminated in Stalin's camps. At the foot of the cross is a granite plaque listing the camps and prisons where Polish soldiers were held. Behind the cross on the wall are two memorial plaques to the victims of the Siberian camps and the victims of the communist regime.
