Wawel is a hill and architectural complex in Krakow, on the left bank of the Vistula. Height - 228 meters above sea level.

On the Wawel Hill there is a complex of architectural monuments, the most important of which are the Royal Castle and the Cathedral of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslas. Wawel is a symbol of Poland and a place of special significance for the Polish people.

Currently, the castle houses an exposition dedicated to the life of Polish kings - chambers, a throne room, an armory and a treasury.

From Wawel we started our tour of Krakow. We were determined to visit all the expositions. We started with the fact that near the entrance - from the Cathedral. We took audio guides - a chic thing, I advise everyone. The cathedral itself is quite decent, but the main feature is that it is stuffed with all sorts of artifacts of antiquity. Plus, there are a lot of very attractive chapels in it, which are independent units. Tired of the influx of information and walking up the stairs (we climbed the tower with bells), we went to a cafe.

We were in Krakow for the first time. Fell in love with this place. I recommend coming there after 18:00 to enjoy the city in which lanterns are lit. The dragon deserves special attention. Be sure to wait until he breathes fire. Of the minuses - there are many tourists, which is why it is not very comfortable to stay. But that doesn't outweigh the benefits. In general, I recommend to visit.

I liked Krakow so much that we returned the following year. And even then they paid tribute to Wawel. It is a shrine of Poles and people come here from morning till night. Access to the museum is limited, queues line up from the first minutes.

The Wawel complex has survived many owners for several centuries of existence: Polish kings, Austrian soldiers lived here, Lithuanians visited, Germans were accommodated during the Second World War. But no matter what happened, he still remained a part of Poland and its history. The outer perimeter of the Wawel complex and its courtyards can be viewed free of charge. Entrance to the Cathedral of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslas is also free. Inspection of the Royal Castle is paid. When buying tickets, you can choose which specific exhibitions you want to visit and pay for everything separately.
