The Tower of the City Hall is located on the Market Square and is one of the main attractions of Krakow. It is an important element of the Gothic administrative building, built in the early fourteenth century, and is located in the northeastern part of the square, rising 70 meters above it. After lightning struck the Old Town Hall in the 17th century, a fire broke out and the building was badly damaged, but was later rebuilt, and the Gothic spire adorning the tower was soon replaced by a Baroque helmet.
In the 19th century, the administrative building was dismantled due to its obsolescence, leaving only the tower, which underwent major reconstruction in 1960 and was transferred to the city's Historical Museum after completion. After the restoration process, the historical monument of Krakow has changed its appearance and now seems more attractive.
On the top floor of the old building, at a height of about 50 meters, today is equipped with an observation deck, which offers a magnificent view of the Market Square and the buildings surrounding it. The Town Hall Tower fits perfectly into the image of Krakow, embodying its historical past, and is popular with thousands of tourists who come to the ancient capital of Poland every year.
