The Florian Gate in Krakow is a medieval gate located in the Old Town of Krakow at the end of Florianska Street. It is one of the eight defensive gates of Krakow.
The solemn, monumental Florian's Gate is the only surviving gate in the defensive wall that once surrounded Krakow. Having lost its defensive significance in the 19th century, the gates were miraculously saved from the demolition of the fortifications and today delight visitors to the city, who came to the mighty walls of this legendary monument of Krakow.
Today, the Florian Gate welcomes all guests of the city. Despite their monumentality and power, they are very cute in appearance and offer tourists to admire the various decorations that distinguish them from other similar buildings:
- The main decoration of the gate is a coat of arms with the image of a white eagle of the genus Piast;
- on the wall adjacent to the tower, tourists are allowed to climb the stairs, which are located to the left and right of it;
- the height of the tower is 34.5 meters;
- Baroque relief of St. Florian is a unique decoration of the gate;
- Inside the portal of the tower you can see a chapel with the image of the Virgin Mary.
