The palace was rebuilt in 1505 from two burgher houses and was appointed Bishop of Plock Erasmus Cio? Ek (Polish: Erazm Cio? Ek, 1474–1522). Above the portal is the coat of arms with the royal eagle and the letter "S" in honor of King Sigismund I the Old. After the death of Bishop Ziolek, the palace became the residence of Bishop Peter Tomicki, then Cardinal Jerzy Radziwill. During the Austro-Hungarian monarchy in the XIX century, the palace was gradually destroyed, architectural details were destroyed or hidden under plaster. The house housed various institutions. In 1996 the building was transferred to the Krakow National Museum. Restoration works have been carried out since 1999. The window frames have been reconstructed from the preserved fragments. An earlier walled Late Gothic colonnade was opened in the courtyard. Today the palace is a branch of the Krakow National Museum. Archaeological finds are on display in the courtyard. There is also a bronze model of the palace.
