On Plac Solidarnosci there is a monument to the victims of the events of December 1970. Then a wave of protests against the current state system swept through northern Poland. The demonstrations were suppressed, several dozen people died. The monument in the form of three obelisks with a height of 42 (according to the number of dead) meters each and anchors crucified on top was opened on the tenth anniversary of the tragic events, in 1980.
