The Larco Museum is located in the southwestern part of the city. It was opened in 1926. The museum bears the name of its founder, Larco Herrera, who built the museum and gave it a rich collection of artifacts. The Larco Museum is dedicated to the history of Peru in the pre-Columbian era. A special place is occupied by a collection of gold and silver items, as well as an erotic collection of ceramics.
