Stopera complex
Stopera
Netherlands, Amsterdam
Stopera is a complex that houses the municipality and the Amsterdam Musical Theatre, which provides the stage for the Netherlands Opera, the Dutch National Ballet Company and the Dutch Symphony Orchestra. The name "Stopera" comes from the abbreviation of the words: stadhuis (town hall) and opera (opera).
The Stopera complex was built in 1982–1986 in the center of Amsterdam on a piece of Vloinburg land drained in the 16th century, between Waterloo Square, the Amstel River and the Zwanenbürgwal Canal.
