The Nieuwekerk or New Church was built by order of the Archbishop of Utrecht in 1408. At that time,
Oude Kerk (Old Church), due to the active urbanization of the city, could not accommodate all the parishioners. During the history of the Nieuwekerk, architectural works and reconstructions have repeatedly changed its appearance. That is why the eclectic style of the church with elements of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance is distinguished by such originality and originality.
Currently, the church is not active, and is not used for its intended purpose. Because of the excellent acoustics, organ concerts are held in its premises, as well as lectures, antique fairs, solemn marriage ceremonies of the monarchs of the Netherlands and other significant events.
