Exchange Berlage
Berlage's Stock Exchange, Beurs van Berlage
Netherlands, Amsterdam
The Berlage Stock Exchange, built in 1903, is one of the most valuable examples of authentic 19th century Dutch architecture. The building was built over a period of five years, designed by the little-known architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage, who received worldwide recognition for this architectural work. Once upon a time, several exchanges were located here: stock, currency, freight, commodity and grain. The last auction at Beurs van Berlage took place in 1997. Currently, the premises of the building are used for ceremonial and entertainment events. Art exhibitions, concerts, conferences, social parties and weddings take place within these walls. A chamber orchestra and a philharmonic society settled in one of the halls of the exchange.
