Museum of Contemporary Art Rufino Tamayo
Museo Rufino Tamayo, Rufino Tamayo Museum
Mexico, Mexico
The basis of the museum was the collection collected by the Mexican modernist artist Rufino Tamayo (1889-1991). In Chapultepec Park, an original building made of glass and concrete grew over 2 years, the authors of which were awarded the Mexican Architecture Prize in 1981. The Rufino Tamayo Museum is part of the cultural complex, together with the State Museum of Anthropology and the State Historical Museum. In 2011-2012, the museum building was reconstructed. Now in five spacious halls with a total area of 1900 sq. m., paintings, drawings, graphics, sculptures by famous contemporary artists, as well as several works by Tamayo himself, his books and photographs are exhibited. In the local library you can find information about each artist whose work is presented in the museum, temporary exhibitions are regularly held here. In addition, a restaurant and a shop are open.
