Mexico, Mexico
The Casa de los Azulejos tile house, a gem of colonial architecture, was built in 1596 by the Count del Valle de Orizaba for his family. A hundred and fifty years later, the facade of the building was decorated on three sides with expensive blue and white tiles from the Mexican state of Puebla, the mansion became the decoration of Mexico City. The building gained even more popularity in 1925, when the artist José Clemente Orozco painted a mural on the walls of the stairs with a biblical theme.
The Tile House is one of the most interesting sites to visit in the historic center of Mexico City. On the ground floor of the building, in the courtyard, there is a fountain and a restaurant extremely popular among tourists.
