Trotsky's house-museum is located in the suburbs of Mexico City - the Coyoacan area. In this house, Lev Davidovich Trotsky lived the last few months of his life, where he died. How did L.D. Trotsky end up in Mexico? By decision of the Politburo of the Communist Party of the USSR in 1929, Leon Trotsky was expelled from the country. The communist artist Diego Rivera managed to get Trotsky's entry permit from the President of Mexico. After the arrival, L. Trotsky and his wife N. Sedova settled in the house of
Frida Kahlo, the wife of Rivera. However, according to one version - due to political differences, according to another - due to Lev Davidovich's harassment of F. Kahlo and the subsequent scandal, Trotsky moved to a house on a nearby street, which later became his House Museum. The last days of the legendary revolutionary passed here, here he was killed in 1940 by an NKVD agent, despite double walls, iron shutters and a police patrol.
The museum includes a temporary exhibition dedicated to the activities of Leon Trotsky, a public library where his works, documents and modern Trotskyist literature are collected. The graves of Leon Trotsky and his wife Natalya Sedova are located next to the museum.
Groups of followers of Trotskyism gather at Trotsky's house every August to commemorate their leader. In Trotsky's office on the desk are his glasses and a newspaper dated August 20, 1940, which he read on his fateful day.
The museum, in addition to receiving visitors, holds various lectures, readings and conferences on the topic of literature, such as "Poetry in exile".
