Cathedral of Saint John

Kon-Katidral ta' San Ġwann, St. John's Co-Cathedral
Malta, Valletta
St. John's Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in Valletta. Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Malta. The cathedral was built by the Knights of Malta between 1573 and 1578.

The cathedral, built shortly after the end of the Great Siege of Malta, is somewhat reminiscent of a military fort. The opulent baroque interior contrasts with the laconic façade. One of the attractions of the cathedral is the painting by Caravaggio "Beheading of John the Baptist" (1608). This painting is one of the author's masterpieces and his only signed work.

Near the main entrance to the cathedral is a monument to the Grand Master Marcantonio Zondadari of Siena, who was the nephew of Pope Alexander VII.

Nice) I won’t prescribe a lot - information is presented on the Internet. I just added a photo, by the way, you can go up to the balcony. I recommend taking an audio guide (there is a Russian language).
