Fort Saint Elmo

Fort Saint Elmo is an ancient fortress in Valletta, it got its name in honor of Saint Elmo. The fortress was built in the 14th century to guard the approaches to Marsamxett Harbor and the Grand Harbor on the Mount Sciberras peninsula.

The fort currently houses the Malta National War Museum and the Malta Police Academy. Costumed performances recreating the knightly era are periodically arranged.
