Tarxien - an archaeological complex near the city of Tarxien in Malta, dates back to about 2800 BC. e. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List along with 5 other megalithic temples of Malta.
Tarxien consists of three separate but interconnected temple structures. The main entrance was reconstructed in 1956, when the whole temple was restored. Of particular interest are the stone reliefs of Tarxien depicting domestic animals, as well as altars and screens decorated with spiral figures and other designs.
