Verdala Palace, Verdala Castle, Buskett Gardens
Malta, Mdina
Verdala Palace and Busquette Gardens are located 2.5 km southeast of Rabat and Mdina. The gardens were laid out as hunting grounds by order of the Grand Master La Valletta, who laid out the park itself and built a hunting lodge in it.
After some time, in 1586-1588, another Grand Master, Verdala, demolished the house and built a summer residence for himself in Buschetta - a fortified palace, more like a tower. Architect - Gerolamo Cassar.
Now this palace is the summer residence of the President of the Republic of Malta, so there is no access for tourists inside.
