The building of the casino and the opera "Monte Carlo"
Monte-Carlo Casino and Opera House
Monaco, Monte Carlo
The gambling and entertainment complex "Casino Monte-Carlo" in Monaco houses the famous casino, the opera house and the office of the "Ballet de Monte-Carlo" troupe. The most famous and luxurious building of the Principality was built in 1863 by the architect Charles Garnier for a casino opened to save the House of Grimaldi from bankruptcy. Gaming tables are located in the themed rooms - white and pink living rooms, the Renaissance room, the Europe room and the Palm room. In 1879, the casino building was expanded and a theater hall with 524 seats was opened in an extension to its south wing, also designed by Charles Garnier, who repeated the hall of the Paris Opera in miniature. Over the years of the theater's existence, the greatest masters of the opera stage have performed here.
