Kasbah quarter
Agadir Kasbah, Kasbah, Kasbah, Agadir Oufella
Morocco, Agadir
The Kasbah is the oldest part of the city of Agadir. Once it was not a city quarter, but a fortress with small narrow streets inside. It was built in 1572 by the ruler, whose name was Muley Abdallah el-Ghalib. Noteworthy are the gates to the fortress, where you can see the inscription in Arabic and Dutch "Fear God and honor the King."
From a powerful fortress, impressive with its fortifications, today there is only a long wall surrounding the territory of the fortress. Much was destroyed during the earthquake in 1960. Since the fortress is built on a hill, it offers stunning views of the bay of Agadir and the surrounding area. By the way, another name of the quarter is also due to its location, the Kasbah is also called "Agadir on the hill."
At night, the fortress wall is illuminated, which creates a beautiful picture. Another inscription is also highlighted, which translates as "God, Motherland, King."
