Rātslaukums, Town Hall Square in Riga
Latvia, Riga
Town Hall Square - one of the central squares of Riga, is considered the oldest city cultural and representative center. On the square are the building of the Riga City Council and the famous Riga House of the Blackheads. During World War II, the Town Hall Square was completely destroyed and then rebuilt with some changes.

For some reason, there is not a word about the town hall itself in the reviews about the Town Hall Square. I will add some information. In the 14th century, Town Hall Square was the central place of Riga. All important events for the city were held here - from executions to holidays. And, as in any European city, a town hall was built here, in which the Riga City Council sat, and once a year, decrees and laws were read to the citizens from its balcony. At that time, however, the square was not the Town Hall, but simply a nameless commercial square.

It is worth starting a tour of the city from the central square of Riga. The central square is called the Town Hall, on which the building of the Riga City Council and the House of the Blackheads are located. I want to say that outwardly the houses are beautiful, especially since there are no more similar ones in Riga, so be sure to take a look. You should definitely visit in the evening, both sights are beautifully illuminated, and it is in the evening that you get especially beautiful photos.
