Sri lanka, Trincomalee
Konishwaram is erected on the very top of Swami's rock at a height of 120m).
This Hindu temple was considered the main religious center 2.5 thousand years ago. The history of the temple is shrouded in many legends. In the 16th century AD. The Sinhala king Mahasena destroyed the temple of the god Shiva (Koneshwaram) and ordered a Buddhist temple to be built in its place. However, already in the 17th century (1622), during the reign of the Portuguese, the temple of Mahasen was also destroyed. Only in 1952, at the expense of the inhabitants of Trincomalee, the temple was rebuilt. Now Koneshwaram is open for visiting necessarily without shoes, with covered shoulders and knees)

Hindu temple, located on a rock, which offers beautiful views of the town of Trincomalee and the ocean. The road leading to the temple is quite picturesque, through huge trees past the ancient fort, where deer walk around. The temple is dedicated to the main deity of Shaivism - the god Shiva. You can only get there on foot, and part of the way you will have to do barefoot under the scorching sun, because in the middle of the way you will have to hand over your shoes. Near the temple you can see a lot of home-made, wicker cradles on the trees.
