Castle Nomad

Nomad Fortress, Nomad Castle
Kazakhstan, Almaty
In 2004, for the filming of the historical film "Nomad", dedicated to the struggle for the independence of the Kazakhs in the 18th century, 80 km from Almaty, on the banks of the Ili River, a scenery was built in the style of a medieval eastern fortification, which became known as the "Castle Nomad". Buildings: houses, a mosque, towers, walled on three sides, were made of foam, plastered with clay to give the fortress the appearance of authenticity.

After the completion of the film, they decided to leave the scenery, turning the castle into a tourist attraction. In the future, the scenery was used for the filming of several more films, including the famous film "Day Watch". Nearby, on the opposite bank, there are rocks with petroglyphs, known as Tamgaly Tas.

A week from Almaty there is a wonderful place for visiting residents of Kazakhstan and tourists. This is not only a natural and historical phenomenon, but also the cultural heritage of our republic. We always visit the banks of the Ili River in March and October, because the steppe is no longer as hot as in summer. This place is located about 70-80 km from the city, depending on which coast to stay. These places are loved by fishermen and just tourists. Once upon a time, for the filming of the film "Nomads", a castle was built here - a decoration in the style of a medieval eastern fortification.
