Lotus plantation is common in Cambodia. Lotus is very actively used by the Khmers at all stages of maturation. Its young shoots are used in salads, its buds are carried as offerings to the temple, its immature seeds are eaten as seeds (tastes like peas or beans), the mature seeds are used to make butter, and its huge leaves are used as plates or bags (yes, so some Khmers are poor). There are especially many such plantations on the way to Tonle Sap Lake. We managed to get to one larger one.→
