Cambodian Anti-Personnel Mine Museum
Cambodia Landmine Museum, Landmine Museum
Cambodia, Siemreab
The Landmine Museum was founded in 1997 by Aki Ra, a former soldier under the Khmer Rouge regime who later became a sapper. The museum moved into a modern building in 2007. During the civil war in Cambodia, about 6 million mines were laid and Aki Ra led a mission to detect and clear mines in different parts of the country. The museum displays unique photographs, demined bombs, mines and other explosive weapons, as well as various types of small arms and military equipment. They also talk about the danger of anti-personnel mines left after the military conflict.
Entrance to the museum is free, but a small voluntary donation is recommended, which goes to help victims of mine explosions.
